Ice skating pushchairs remain excluded due to safety hazards.
Other unconventional pushchair types (e.g., longboard-pushchair combos) are also not covered.
2. Safety Enhancements:
Suitability for Use: Pushchairs must provide a safe ride on uneven surfaces and secure positioning for the child.
Entanglement Hazards: While EN 1888-1+A1:2022 assesses this, clause 8.4 doesn’t apply to tether straps (if provided).
Stability: Improved requirements account for steep and uneven terrain.
Structural Integrity: Rigorous testing considers longer, faster, and more intensive use, including wheel strength.
Braking Device: Pushchairs need efficient braking to prevent high-speed incidents.
Carer Control: A tether ensures the ability to stop the pushchair if the carer loses control.
Visibility: Reflectors or retroreflective materials on all sides enhance visibility.
Product Information: Sporting use is suitable for children aged at least 9 months. Warnings emphasize care during shared activities. Protective gear (child helmet, carer’s reflective clothing) is recommended.
